Development of Bipolar Pulse Accelerator for Intense Pulsed Heavy Ion Beam
A new type of a pulsed ion beam accelerator named “bipolar pulse accelerator (BPA) ”has been proposed to improve the purity of the intense pulsed ion beam. In order to confirm the principle of the BPA, we have developed a bipolar pulse generator and a prototype of the accelerator. When the bipolar pulse generator was operated at 70 % of the full charge condition, the bipolar pulse with the firs...
متن کاملDiocotron instability of an intense relativistic electron beam in an accelerator.
High current annular electron beam in an accelerator is subject to various instabilities. A general fluid-Maxwell theory of the diocotron instability is developed for an infinitely long and azimuthally symmetric annular electron beam propagating along an external magnetic field. In contrast with the treatment used in the conventional diocotron instability, the assumptions of tenuous electron be...
متن کاملDirect Measurement of Medical Linear Accelerator Electron Beam Width at Scattering Foil Position
Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a method for the direct measurement of electron beam width and distribution at the scattering foil on the carrousel in a medical linear accelerator gantry head, which differs from an existing indirect method for measuring the focal spot size using a camera or metallic slit located outside the gantry head. Methods: The electron beam emitted by the li...
متن کاملAccelerator Optimization through Beam Diagnostics
A comprehensive set of beam diagnostics is key to the successful operation and optimization of essentially any accelerator. The oPAC project received 6 M€ of funding within the EU's 7th Framework Programme. This has allowed to successfully train 23 Fellows since 2011. The network joins more than 40 institutions from all around the world, including research centers, universities and private comp...
متن کاملContinuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility,
We use local quark-hadron duality to estimate the purely nonperturbative soft contribution to the γ * p → ∆ form factors. Our results are in agreement with existing experimental data. We predict that the ratio G * E (Q 2)/G * M (Q 2) is small for all accessible Q 2 , in contrast to the pQCD expectations that G * E (Q 2) → −G * M (Q 2).
